Folding key can shut the engine off

Crash risk

The key can fold into itself while driving, and contact with it can switch the engine off. If that happens, the airbags may not deploy in a crash, raising the risk of injury.

Fix: The dealer will insert a spacer into the key slot to stop it from folding, free of charge.

Rear seat frame welds may be defective

Injury risk

The welds on the rear seat recliner joints may be improperly made, so the seats may not meet federal safety standards for seating and seat belt anchorages. In a crash, weak welds could increase the risk of injury to people sitting in the back.

Fix: Dealers will inspect the rear seat frames and replace any defective lower seat frame free of charge.

Recall 17V663000 · Oct 2017

Occupant classification

In these vehicles, the front seat passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. As a result, the passenger frontal air bag may be turned off and not deploy in the event of a crash. If the passenger frontal air bag does not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, the passenger is at an increased risk of injury.

Fix: Nissan will notify their owners. Chevrolet City Express owners will be notified by General Motors.
