Passenger air bag may fail to deploy

Injury risk

A capacitor in the occupant detection sensors can crack and short circuit, which may stop the front passenger air bag from deploying in a crash. A passenger without a working air bag faces a higher risk of injury.

Fix: The dealer will replace the occupant detection sensors on the front passenger seat free of charge.

Park / neutral start interlock switch

An insufficient weld may allow water to enter the inhibitor switch, causing it to fail. An inoperative inhibitor switch may prevent the reverse lights from illuminating and the rearview camera image from displaying, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Dealers will replace the inhibitor switch, free of charge.

Recall 23V755000 · Nov 2023

Windshield

The incorrect paint clearcoat may have been applied, which can cause the windshield to be insufficiently bonded to the vehicle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 212, "Windshield Mounting." An insufficiently bonded windshield can detach during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Fix: Subaru will offer owners a vehicle exchange or repurchase, free of charge.

Damaged wiring can cause engine stalling

Can stall

The engine wiring harness may be damaged, creating a loose electrical connection to the engine control unit. This can cause the engine to stall while driving, which raises the risk of a crash.

Fix: The dealer will replace the engine wiring harness and engine control unit at no cost to you.
