Control unit / module

Park outside

The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module may leak brake fluid internally and cause an electrical short, which can result in an engine compartment fire while parked or driving. An engine compartment fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.

Fix: Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the ABS fuse, free of charge.

Accessory outlet may overheat and cause fire

Fire risk

The 12V power outlet may have been overtightened during installation, which can disable its thermal fuse. Using it for long periods, such as running the tire inflator compressor, can cause the outlet to overheat and raise the risk of a fire.

Fix: The dealer will replace the Tire Mobility Kit accessory outlet plug with a direct-to-battery wire harness kit, free of charge.

Recall 20V393000 · Jul 2020

Brakes may engage unexpectedly due to ESC sensor

Crash risk

A fault in the electronic stability control sensor can apply the brakes on one or more wheels unexpectedly and reduce engine power, usually with the ESC warning light on. This can cause loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash.

Fix: The dealer will check the ESC sensors, update the system calibration, and do this free of charge.

Recall 15V871000 · Dec 2015

Side / window

A support bracket attached to the headliner may become displaced during a side curtain airbag deployment. If the headliner support bracket makes contact with an occupant during a crash, it may cause a laceration injury.

Fix: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will apply adhesive strips to the headliner, free of charge. Hyundai's recall campaign number is 109.
